Dearest of Dears,

My Dad sent pictures he took of the students on their breaks and I'm sending them to you. Dad wrote:

The students who are home for break between their second and third term. Most Ugandan Schools operate on the calendar year and have three terms.  They will go back to school to begin their third and final term on 10 September.

Shilla and Senoga are "candidate" students meaning that they are in the 11th grade which is the final grade of "O" levels.  They will be taking the national Secondary leaving exams in November and after they take the exams they are done for the year.  They wait on their exam results to find out whether they are qualified to proceed into "A" levels - grades 12 & 13.

Oliva (not pictured) and Pius did quite well on their Secondary Leaving Exams last November and are now in Grade 12.  I will be sending more photos before they leave for the 3rd term.
Other international schools (like Yoweri's) operate on the American system: School year begins in August and ends in early June.
